A woman wants to be fought for.
A woman wants to be pursued.
A woman wants to be captivating.
A woman’s heart yearns for these like the desert yearn for rain. Yet, this isn’t all. There is one more thing she desires; something that most men, including myself, have been completely blinded to.
“Every woman also wants an adventure to share.” (Wild at Heart, pg. 16)
To be swept up into an epic voyage. A journey filled with epic tales; to be apart of something bigger than herself. Not only does she want to be pursued, but she wants to be apart of the journey with someone.
Unfortunately, most of us guys get this completely backwards. Instead we do something else.
“So many men make the mistake of thinking that the woman is the adventure.” (Wild at Heart, pg. 16)
I must admit that most of my life I have thought this. It’s all about getting girl right? So I go to gym lifts some more weights, write another song, try to wear the coolest clothes; all of it so that I can achieve the greatest adventure…getting her.
“But that is where the relationship goes downhill. A woman doesn’t want to be the adventure; she wants to be caught up into something greater than herself.” (Wild at Heart, pg. 16)
Maybe what a woman doesn’t want is a man who is really good at getting the ladies. Maybe she just wants a man who is on an adventure; a guy that is doing something with his life and wants her to be apart of it. Maybe she doesn’t want to be a trophy; a great prize to be won. Maybe, just maybe, what she really wants is to be a companion on the road. A companion to a man who would fight for her. A man so captivated by her that he couldn’t even imagine going any further in his journey without her.
Maybe that’s what a woman desires.
